Clay cookware and bakeware presented by Claybourg International. Clay cookware and bakeware have been used around the world for thousands of years and the Claybourg® brand is bringing you the best of French cookware and bakeware..
We exclusively import and distribute our French bakeware and cookware from the best manufacturers, specialized in professionally handcrafted genuine Alsatian clay bakeware and cookware. Clay cookware and bakeware have been a tradition of the region for centuries; useful and decorative items with designs that have been perfected but kept their traditional appeal over time.
Using clay cookware and bakeware is one of the most natural ways of slow cooking and low fat dieting.
Our clay cookware and bakeware are made of a mix natural clay and fresh water, providing great refractory proprieties that are perfect for oven cooking dishes as they keep the flavors and moisture in your food with no need for much or any oil.
Nowadays, most bakeware and cookware is mechanically formed (pressed) by machines but our clay cookware and bakeware are still manufactured by hand and patiently hand-painted by skilled workers, making every cookware virtually a unique work of art. They are then fired at very high temperature rendering the thin hand applied lead-safe glazing fully transparent and inert like glass and solidifying the clay for a very durable high quality cookware. Our bakeware can be used on a flame top stove with a heat diffuser but are best used in the oven, traditional or wood fired. They are microwave oven and dishwasher safe.
Claybourg has also partnered with a French manufacturer of kitchen
linens, such as aprons, kitchen towels, place mats and pot holders. These kitchen linens are made from local fabric, 100% sewed and printed in France and we still manage to sell them at about half the cost of their retail prices in French stores. Check them out in the kitchen accessories category, they ship directly to your home from France via priority mail with delivery confirmation and free shipping.
The love for good food and ancestral traditions in France is not to demonstrate anymore. Our professionally handcrafted clay cookware and bakeware are born from the marriage of earth, water, fire and craftsmanship, decorated with the tip of a goose feather attached to a small paint container called "barolet". To protect the clay and the food grade natural paint, the cookware and bakeware are coated with a high quality lead-safe glazing and then fired at about 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. The result is a beautiful unalterable high-quality cookware or bake ware that will last for generations and perfectly cook every meal.
When it comes to the quality of our clay bake ware and cookware, we do not take short cuts to make more profit. We have selected only the best producer in a small community of only 16. While some producers import pre-formed products from Eastern Europe and finish them up in their shop, our cookware and bakeware are only 100% made locally with clay that is harvested in the local forest and in the Paris area. Claybourg is proud to support a local sustainable economy and pay fair prices to our manufacturers while wholesale industry leader squeeze their margin for the corporations bottom line profits at the expense of product quality and local employment.
The local clay requires more cleaning which increases the production cost but like our producer, we believe that to make a genuine traditional product exactly as it was made centuries ago, we have to respect the traditional processes. That is what makes these French cookware and bakeware truly unique products and they cannot be mass produced for big name retailers.
